Configure attribute as item type characteristic

In the attributes module, search for the attribute that you want to configure as type characteristic:

Open the context menu (dots on the right) on the attribute and choose "Use as":

Mark the attribute as item type:

Hit save, the change will be effective immediately: the type filter is available in the items module:
